RHBAA
General Membership Meeting
Friday, September 23, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. by President Morrison in the Celebration Arena.  He apologized for having to change the meeting time because of the mare and colt sale that was scheduled for the same time.

    Wilburn Williams gave the invocation.

The following committee reports were given:

1.    Personnel and Property - Clyde Creech reported at the sale of 60 acres of bottom land previously discussed is going through.

2.    Trail Field and Pleasure - Randy Siniard said that they had a very good Versatility show during the Shelbyville Classic.

3.    Judges - Larry Street emphasized that he stresses to the judges that they should go by the rule book.  His committee has received no
       complaints

4.    Exhibitor Status - Jim Morris stated that he has issued 1,200 Amateur cards, 200 juvenile and 70 trainers cards in 2005.

5.    Promotions and Membership - Jeanne Key is continuing to work on several items including a 4-H program. Art programs, and
exploring state Racking  Horse license plates.

6.    Advisory - Bob Gullic stated that this large committee welcomes opinions, ideas and suggestions.  The pros and cons of an issue are discussed and
researched and if passed by the committee then presented to the Board of Directors.

7.    Horse Show - Oscar House wanted to thank Jerome Zahnd and his staff for their work during the show.  Oscar said that as of Thursday night we
are down 131 entries.  James Morrison said they are looking at ways to eliminate the Saturday morning show.  One way might be to spread the
Futurity  classes around and move the morning classes to Friday night.  This is still in the preliminary stages.

8.    Breeders - Elane Berry said that the mouthing of the young horses was going well.  She reminded everyone that this is the first year of the
industry plan to close the books.  The books would be closed in 2013.

9.    Rules Enforcement - Ed Hiers reported that the committee would have some continuity next year.  He is coming off the board but Paula Sensing
Sensing, President of Futurity; Bob Gullic; President of Amateur Assoc.; and Lesley Blaylock, President of Pleasure Assoc. had all been reelected
so they would automatically serve on Rules Enforcement for the coming year.

10.  Treasurer - Judy Jones gave her report.  All bills have been paid except for a few related to the show.  At this time not all the money has been
collected from tabs in the entry office and not all sponsors had paid.  President Morrison stated that our August '05 balance sheet/income
statement showed that our net income at August 31, 2004 was $86,800.00 and our net income at August 31, 2005 was $80,600.00, a decrease
       of only $6,200.00.

President Morrison stated that he thought we needed an office manager and suggested Personnel & Property Committee look into this.

There was further discussion about selling RHBAA property.  President Morrison said he was one of the people who wanted to buy this property for 1.2 million back years ago but now he is not opposed to selling property if we can keep our two shows (spring & fall celebrations and the office.  He also thins we should not sell the Registry at this time.

Judy Jones stated that she was opposed to selling anymore land.

President Morrison said we need to decide if we are a breed or just a show association.  In order to survive we need to get back to tying horses with a four-beat gait (to get back to our true Racking Horse).

Jerome Zahnd listed some of the events held at the Celebration Arena.  Besides horse show (quarter horses, five gaited, walking and racking) there are dog shows and rodeo.  In 2008 the Horse Shoe Pitching World Championship will be held here.  There are a few more open weekends now than in the past.

Mr. Zahnd said some of the camper spots need electrical work.  Also the roof on the arena is 34 years old and will need work or be replaced.

Darlene Harris asked President Morrison if he thought there would be any negative fall-out because of his comments about Walking Horses in the recent Horse Illustrated magazine article. President Morrison said no.

    The meeting was adjourned.
