RHBAA Pleasure Horse Association Meeting

February 15, 2008, Huntsville, Alabama (Winter Meetings)

Former President, Leslie Blaylock called the meeting to order and Frankie Spillman lead a prayer.  Mr. Blaylock introduced President, Danny Musick.   Mr. Musick addressed the membership and continued the meeting.

Secretary Carolyn Blaylock read minutes from the Fall Meeting.  Darlene Harris made a motion to accept the minutes, Frankie Spillman gave a 2nd, all approved, motion passed.

The Treasurer’s report was passed out for perusal and read by Carolyn Blaylock.  Darlene Harris made a motion to accept the report, Mickie Dalton gave a 2nd, all approved, motion passed.

Jim Morris asked the association to reimburse him $406.00 + $26.00 for the cost of Rack Across America Awards that he had purchased.   Leslie Blaylock made a motion to pay Mr. Morris, Nicole Rehkemper gave a 2nd, all approved, motion passed.

Mr. Musick discussed the Silent Auction Booth and 50/50 raffle tickets for fundraising at the Spring Celebration.    Betty Spillman expressed her feelings that the Rack Across America participants should help raise money for the Association.  It was decided that Margie Smith would be asked to encourage the RAA riders to send items for the silent auction.  Nicole Rehkemper suggested a list of members be posted on the Pleasure Association website.

Under New Business, there was discussion about a Show Chairman for the Fall Celebration Fun Show.   Members discussed ideas and agreed to table further discussion until the spring meeting.  A Fun Show Chairman will be elected at that time.

As a member of the RHBAA Horse Show Committee, Carolyn Blaylock updated the membership on changes to the Spring Celebration Pleasure classes.  She reported that Pleasure Racking and Western Pleasure would have a Stake class.  Water Glass and Trail Obstacle had also been added this year because participation was so good last fall.  Darlene Harris as Chairman of the TRHBA Trail, Field and Pleasure Committee procured a commitment of $500.00 from the board for supplies to build new items for the obstacle course.  Leslie Blaylock agreed to build the items and have them ready for the Spring Show.  Mickey Dalton offered an extra $100.00 donation if $500.00 did not cover the cost of material.

President Musick asked for a motion for sponsorship at the Spring Celebration.  Frankie Spillman made a motion to donate $250.00, Darlene Harris gave a 2nd, all approved, motion passed.

Donna Kauffman had provided information about a contest between RHBAA Associations to sell ads for the Spring Show.  The Association who raises the most money will be treated to a pizza party.  Forms were made available to all members interested in participating.

Nell Brown was present and addressed the association about our website.  Nell has created a link from the RHBAA site and will keep our information current free of charge.  The new site will include member names, minutes, treasurer reports, pictures  or any other information we want posted.  Nicole Rehkemper made a motion we abandon the old website controlled by Amy Reynolds and accept Nell Brown as our new website administrator, Leslie Blaylock gave a 2nd, all approved, motion passed.

The members were given ballots to vote on judges for the Spring Celebration.  While those votes were being counted, Jim Morris gave out the RAA Awards.  Jim read the stats and displayed the prizes and told about one amazing rider with 2700 hours with the program.  Mickey Dalton was the only rider present to receive her award but the others will be mailed to the recipients. 

President Musick returned from counting votes and announced Kelly France, Keith Ailshie and a tie between Ronnie Hooker and Lance Meisenheimer.  The association voted with a show of hands and Lance Meisenheimer won the tie.  

The meeting ended with a discussion about 2008 show sponsorships.  It was decided that the association would continue to sponsor five (5) shows at $75.00 each on a first-come-first -serve basis.  Applications were made available members.
