Ladies Auxiliary Minutes

February 15, 2008

Meeting was called to order by our President, Nicole Rehkemper at 7:17 pm in south Walnut Room at the Holiday Inn in Huntsville, AL.  We went around the room and introduced ourselves and said where we were from.

Deb Morris, Secretary, read the minutes from the Fall Celebration meeting.  Glenda stated that we had $1,090.38 in our checking account instead of $1,056.63 that was written in the minutes.  Jeanie Roberts made a motion to accept the minutes and Tonya Parsons-Beaver second, motion passed.

Glenda Barrow, Treasure, gave the Treasury Report.  As of February 15, 2008, we have $2,171.84 in the bank.  A complete breakdown of expenses and income is attached.  The report was approved by Tonya Parsons-Beaver and second by Mickey Dalton, motion passed.

A lengthy discussion was made on what type of classes we should have at the Spring Celebration, Shelbyville Classic and the Fall Celebration.  At the end of the discussion we took a vote and a decision was made to have a padded class at the spring show and a padded and a country pleasure class at the Fall Celebration.  As for the Shelbyville Classic, Glenda will take our suggestions to their show committee and will have a padded and a country pleasure class and maybe even a trail pleasure class.  Next year at the Winter Meetings a discussion on what type of classes we should have in 2009 season will be addressed and a vote to determine what type of classes.

Nicole read a letter from Vernon Mitchell about creating a “Memorial Wreath” that would be displayed each year at the Fall & the following years Spring Celebration. The concept of this wreath is to sell spaces on the inside of the wreath that would be dedicated to a love one that has died or even dedicated to a horse that had died. If successful we will redo the wreath yearly. The motion was made by Darlene Harris to add this as one of our events, Tonya Parsons-Beaver second the motion. All were in favor. Ava Odum and Jamie Logan volunteered to head this committee and will bring more ideas to our next meeting.  If you have any comments or would like to be a part of their committee please get contact them as soon as possible.

Should our president be on the Rules and Enforcement Committee? All association presidents except The Ladies Auxiliary are appointed to the Rules Enforcement Committee. There was a short discussion on this.  At our next meeting we need to continue the discussion and if we do want this a motion needs to be made and second.  If the motion passes then a letter must be created that states which rule should be changed and sent to the Breeders office.  The letter has to be posted for 45 days and then voted on at the next general membership meeting.

Each person present received a list of judges that wanted to judge the Spring Celebration.  The judges that received the top 3 votes were:  Keith Ailshie, Kelly France and Lance Meisenheimer.  These names were given to the Horse Show Committee to go into the “hat” with all the other names.
